Straffe Hendrik Brugs Tripel Bier Wild (2017)
9.0% Tripel
Our Straffe Hendrik Wild is a wild variant of the well-known Straffe Hendrik Tripel. The beer undergoes a refermentation in the bottle with a wild yeast: the 'Brettanomyces' or 'Brett' yeast. This gives the beer a longer natural shelf life and ensures a special taste evolution over the years. The beer is only bottled once a year, so there is only a limited supply of each edition available.

Très aromatique au nez, un petit goût de pomme en bouche, un bon goût de levure. Agréable et douce au final

Once in a while when you open a bottle of beer, the liquid rises and a little foam head forms on the bottle opening. Once in a blue moon a little bit even spoils over. This beer however blew like a volcano two epochs overdue. So no picture this time, because after cleaning up the mess, I was left with a sad, stale, half glass of beer. The aroma is centennial Brett. The taste at first was a bit off. I wondered if it had somehow spoiled, which had somehow caused it to "explode". But after a few sips it settled. I think this could be a great beer, right up my alley, but I would have to revisit.
