I’m backtracking on my review from two years ago but appreciate that was on tap from a keg and this is from a can so there may be differences as well as the recipe might have changed.
From can has a distinct frothy head which holds, definite plus! It isn’t however the black IPA it promises to be. It’s more like a porter than IPA. But here’s the catch, I’m not slating it at all just because I don’t think it’s true to style. I actually like it and appreciate it for being a full bodied beer.
Lots of mellow dark malt flavours with chocolate dominating and coffee also. That’s just too much for a black IPA. Citrus notes come through but hardly any bitterness and no depth of hop character, the malts dominate.

Fruity aroma and hoppy black IPA. Relatively smooth with a slight burnt but certainly bitter finish
