Decided to pull this from the cellar. Bottled in January of 2016, this one's a little over 7 years old, and I haven't had it in about 4 years.
The aroma has bourbon almost immediately, followed by caramel. Taste has caramel right up front, immediately followed by flavorful bourbon. Oak and vanilla notes from the barrel aging follow. Solid malt backbone tying this all together. Decently boozy. The caramel lingers long after each sip.
The body is bordering on full bodied with an appropriately low amount of carbonation.
I was hoping the booziness would have died off a bit more, but it's definitely not as boozy as the last time I had it. I don't remember the caramel lingering like this before, but that's a very welcome character of this one. Sadly, it's my last bottle, but I'm gonna sip and enjoy this for a while. Cheers all.

A style I'm liking more and more as I go along. I'd rate this up there with some of the better bourbon barrel aged barley wines I've had. I think I'll have grab a couple of bombers for the cellar. Great barley wine with an excellent flavor from the bourbon barrel aging. A bit hot still, but more time will help to mellow it out. 4.25/5
