Staying in a rental next door to Whiskey River Ranch. Family crowded into one house. Great if I don't kill someone while trying to rate a beer. An interesting stout from McKinney Texas.
Heavy pour, head is thick and meringue like. Chocolate aroma, more like a milk chocolate. Not near as heavy as expected, but still smooth. The coconut arrives first, not the dreaded artificial stuff that ruins so many. Dry dark cocoa combines violently, taking over the flavor with a parched, caulked quality. Only late in the finish does the 12.1% alcohol begin to show up. Ends up with a very boozy, coconut and cocoa chocolate finale.
I had reservations on the first couple of sips but this is one of those beers that grows on you. By the time I finished it, I decided that it's pretty darn good.
