Impenetrable, very deep dark brown beer resembles black coffee. The moderate, short-lived carbonation creates a cappuccino-colored, porous head that exceeds two fingers. The foamy mattress loses air relatively rapidly, leaves thick cobwebs on the glass and descends to a neat lacing on top.
The nose experiences a mixture of dark chocolate, raw cocoa nibs and a drop of espresso.
The gustatory package is more robust than the fragrance: the tongue receives slightly bitter raw chocolate, raw cocoa powder, a bit of rye malt and a tiny dollop of strong, overstayed black coffee.
The body is light. The beer ends with a rather mild cocktail of raw chocolate and dark chocolate, accompanied by raw cocoa nibs and some rye malt. A strong coffeeish note further flavors the experience. The aftertaste keeps the tastebuds active for some time.
The mouthfeel is a bit thin, medium-dry and distantly lip-glueing. Quite a decent Stout for such a low ABV of 4.7 %.
