2023 marks the year Stoutzilla is downsized to a stubby can 330ml. Understandable for an imperial stout but I can't help feel this is part of a lack of effort this year. A big thing wasn't made about it's release this year and particularly a lack of bigging up the ingredients. Whilst coffee is still listed on the can I don't know if it's local roasted stuff of last year, it reads like just another adjunct like the "oaked bourbon whiskey, cacao nibs, vanilla" it also states.
It looks the same as I remember, pitch black opaque depths, that shiny muddy brown under torchlight and the usual lack of head. On the nose it's familiar too, roasty and toasty with sweet vanilla and bourbon with dark chocolate and coffee.
In the mouth it's very syrupy but with some carbonation there, oil like in the finish and very roasted before during and after. Reaching Marmite levels of roasted barley and dark malts. The alcohol can be sensed and tasted, just about, but then 10% is nowt to sniff at!
It's not as nice as I remember it, but it could be just I've had others since last year that were nicer rather than a change in recipe or a worse brew. Who knows.

Just as good as last time. I'll have to wait for winter to have it again I expect.

It’s my first time trying this but it won’t be my last.
Lots of body backed up with a dominating mouthfeel. Fresh coffee leads from the front and doesn’t let up, so no idea where the other ingredients are hiding!
Iconic name but only released once a year?! 😞

Miellyttävän pehmeä stout. Maussa pientä paahteisuutta sekä kahvia ja vaniljaa. Viskin makukin jää lopuksi kielen päälle pyörimään. Plussaa törkeän siististä tölkistä!
