One more as a nightcap. A nonalcoholic Bock whose name even rants "Barrelled". I wonder what that means for a beer with ABV of 0.0 %.
The beer pours opaque black. The surprisingly rich, fizzy, though hasty carbonation unlocks a latte-hued, sponge-like head that exceeds easily one finger's height. The foamy pillow shrinks soon to a hair-thin lace ring circling the surface. The withdrawing foam leaves the glass untact.
The nostrils try to enjoy the sweet dark malt, a tad sweet honey-coated biscuit, faint molasses and a cautious suggestion of licorice. Not as disappointing as I anticipated although the Kvass-like impression is emerging there.
The tastebuds fall back sitting: dark malt whose olfactory sweetness has been replaced by light-bitter experience. A good amount of rye bread and some rye malt, accompanied by molasses, faint licorice and a truly silent whisper of fennel, seal the package.
The body is substantially thin. The beer ends with rye bread and rye malt, bitter syrup, a subtle injection of licorice root and a faint roasty note. The aftertaste doesn't keep the tastebuds depressed for too long though.
The mouthfeel is watery, distantly mouth-drying, a bit lip-glueing and somewhat homebrewish.

Tämä ei muistuta holillista versiota lainkaan. Tynnyrissä kasvanut ennemminkin.
