Today's last beer is a Wheat Wine brewed with honey and aged in Bourbon barrels. Sounds interesting. The beer colors very deep dark brown with a ruby tint and resembles Coca-Cola. The surprisingly fizzy although tame carbonation releases a light beige, frothy head that qmeasures half a finger and dies quickly away. No marks can be spotted on the glass. A powerful aroma of sweet honey emanates to the nostrils. Sweet caramel, subtle toffee and hefty raisin accompany in the immediate proximity. I can also pick milk chocolate and a dollop of cream among the olfactory components. Bourbon is astonishingly fruity and even juicy. The scent deserves a good round of applauds for being layered and offering complexity. The taste is really sweet and mellow. Bourbon steps confidently to the front and shows off its appealingly fruity character. Sweet caramel, raisin, dried plum, distant toffee and an idea of date constitute a thick nectar that tries to glue the lips together. Honey is there but much less prominent than that in the fragrance. Oak barrel has left its unique woody nuance in the beer. Furthermore I can still find gentle mouthwatering milk chocolate as well as cacao nibs and thick cream. There's additionally a faint but identifiable nutty note behind the curtain, something sweet-gearing, perhaps almond. Overall, a superb multilayered and rather complex package that offers both a good number of components to analyze and an appealing palette to sip at a slow pace in front of a fireplace. Alcohol is fully camouflaged despite the ABV of 13.1 %. Not even a throat-warming sensation can be felt when the noble drink flows down the throat. Amazing! 🖤🖤🖤 The body can't be anything else but full. It's not massively robust though, which probably reduces its heaviness and increases gluggability. The beer finishes with loads of the familiar oversweet caramel, raisin, dried plum and a suggestion of toffee. The lovely milk chocolate, cacao nibs and sweet dripping honey haven't disappeared anywhere either. Fruity Bourbon seasons the beer that portrays slightly oaky barrel nuances. The aftertaste penetrates every nook of the mouth and leaves no single cell of the tastebuds in peace for some time. The mouthfeel is full, moderately heavy, mouthcoating, somewhat sappy and lip-glueing. It's also rich, nicely deep, multilayered and reasonably complex. Furthermore, the mouthfeel is distinctly barrel aged truly remotely woody and neatly flavored. Notably attractive slow sipper. Heavy but still extremely drinkable and truly balanced. Sheer perfection. 🖤🖤🖤 NOTE: The barcode directs to Bourbon Barrel Oro Negro (Imperial Stout) by the same Jackie O's Pub and Brewery.

Wheat wine style ale brewed with honey & aged in bourbon barrels.
