Went by the Hammond Louisiana Brewery, Gnarly Barley, and bought a six pack. No on-site serving because of quarantine rules. Won the Great American Beer Festival silver medal for oatmeal stouts, weird since it's a porter. Almost no head, and the color is very deep opaque brown. Not able to detect much aroma, maybe because the effervescence is so low. Mouthfeel is not as heavy as I expected. Not light but still somewhat crisp. Dry not very sweet. Flavor is not very strong, burnt coffee and a fading touch of chocolate. Finish is a brief coffee. Expectations can affect a review. My expectations were too strong for this brew, not near as good as I was hoping for. Did not seem like a stout to begin with, more of a porter as its name reflects.
