McEwan's Champion
7.3% Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy
You’ll have heard that looks can be deceiving. Well, McEwan’s Champion Ale is Exhibit A in proving that statement true. First impressions are of a sweet and fruity beer. But this delicate taste belies its power. As you fully get to know its intense flavours you’ll realise this is a very strong, dark and traditional ale. William McEwan would have been proud of it.

Strong, rich, sweet, malty, fruity & seemingly not as heavily roasted as many Scottish ales but very moreish.

Very sweet chocolate/toffee start and bitter liquorice finish. Tastes a bit like the whisky cask Innis & Gunn, only a little bit, but the sweetness and bitterness is overpowering. Not my cup of tea.
