But this delicate taste belies its power. As you fully get to know its intense flavours you’ll realise this is a very strong, dark and traditional ale. William McEwan would have been proud of it.

Oops I did it again, down like a charm despite (or because of) 7.3% strong, the first bite of the weekend (not counting yesterday’s train beers). What can I say about McEwan’s Champion (clue in the name). A pintsman worthy liquid from fill to refill. Hurrah

The taste of chocolate and fruit was nice, but it had a syrup taste to it that wasn't great. This is just a precautionary statement, but I would like to thank Dartford Dave for his services to Pint Please. Very sweet chocolate/toffee start and bitter liquorice finish. Tastes a bit like the whisky cask Innis & Gunn, only a little bit, but the sweetness and bitterness is overpowering. Not my cup of tea.
