Passionation Hefe, Canada
2.5
As bright as the day I'm drinking it on, this hazy yellow hefe sure knows how to make a glass look good. With a moderate and shy head that doesn't linger like I do in the beer store, it still effervesces adequately to sparkle in sunshine. Lively aromatics frolic in the nose like the kids down at the river and promise to be as refreshing as a dip in said stream. It has all the notes you'd expect from a hefeweizen, with tangy wheat, fruity and spicy yeast, some body from pale barley malt and a playful helping of passion fruit. On the tongue it becomes something completely different, like myself at the local when my favorite beer is "sorry, sold out." Oddly but pleasantly tart for just a quick moment as the passionfruit is also introduced. But almost immediately a hollow musty taste knocks the other flavors off the tongue quicker than my arm goes up at last call. Much too short lived. So light of body that it cant seem to carry it's own weight. Refreshing is sadly the best I can call it as it stumbles and falls short of its potential.
