Murky, very deep dark brown beer with decent carbonation unlocks a beige, dense moussy head that exceeds one finger. Soon the top is adorned by an impressive lace ring in the sides. A roasted aroma emanated to my nostrils. Toasted rye bread, rye flour, soot and a faint hint of blackpepper powder escort the leader. The taste gives a bit of roasted malt, burned wood, licorice, rye flour and a twist of soot. Marginally woody. Better than many sweet-wasted Dark Lagers. The body is light. Ends with roasted and dark bready nuances. Interesting. Feels light plus, roasty, toasty, woody, a bit dry and drying. Fairly easy and simultaneously appealing for the beerstyle.
