The work day is over, and the evening beginning to cool. The smell of dry grasses, leaves and baking earth lay heavy in the air. The dust of the day is glued to my skin, and my throat as dry as the slight breeze easing down the mountain slopes into our valley floor.
Time for a beer.
A spruce tip sour sounds like its up to the task.
As I pour this lightly hazy, rusty gold beer, I can already pick up aromas of fresh spruce. Inhaling deeply, I'm treated to fruity notes such as citrus, sweet orange, pineapple, pear, and papaya. I'm sensing nothing to support it's claim of being a sour.
No longer denying my thirst, I let the cool surpringly tart brew wash away the remnants of this fine hot day.
Lemon, grapefruit, and mild spruce become the main focus as my tastebuds revel in the acidic bite. I get impressions of a light biscuity malt rather than actual evidence. Very gentle reminders of resinous spruce linger on the aftertaste.
With a smile and a sigh I raise my glass and toast this beautiful evening.
And all you fine pint please folks too.
Bottoms up,...
