Whiskey, chocolate and coffee in the aroma. An oakiness from the barrel aging follows. Taste has a rich, bitter dark chocolate. Following that, I'm getting a bit of whiskey. Coffee hits mid-palate and lingers slightly into the aftertaste. There is some oak in the taste, but it was definitely more prominent in the aroma. This is a tad bitter and not quite as smooth as the regular barrel aged B.O.R.I.S. Still tasty in its own right and worth trying. The bitter dark chocolate is phenomenal in this one; probably more bitter than I've ever had in a stout. Very interesting characteristic. I'm gonna continue to sip on this, but as it stands, I'll give this a strong 4/5
Update: The whiskey is starting to become more prominent as this approaches room temperature, but also the coffee is coming more alive as well. The combo of the chocolate, whiskey and coffee are tasting pretty darn good right about now. Very well made and despite the lack of smoothness the other versions of b.o.r.i.s. possess, i think I'll bump this up to a 4.25/5
