From the Mad scientists that said the wouldn't, they did, an amber lager.
A very showy golden amber lager that really wears a glass well. Building a decent 1 finger standard white foamy head, it relaxes back into itself much as I do in anticipation for what's to come.
Sitting on my back deck, feet up, beer snob jacket on and my senses ready to accept the job I'm about to delegate, I lift the glass for the Inhale. A slight pause to enjoy the prismatic play of sunlight setting this drink a glow.
A lovely and seemingly unique malty aroma not quite caramel but richer and sweeter than grainy fill my nose. Singing high harmony is a balancing bittering hops note, slightly floral but acting as support and not featuring. There is lovely but tenuous honey and mild bread whisper in the background.
After spending an embarrassing amount of time with my eyes closed, smiling, and nose in the glass, I finally get to doing what this is made for. Pouring it into my mouth.
This is a muted orchestra of flavour. Light caramel, honey, mild graininess of the malts. And from the hops, a floral, spicy, very restrained ghost of coniferous resin providing gentle bitterness. All these presenting with some modesty.
Jacket off.
I like this. It's a good beer.
