Opaque, deep black beer with shy carbonation gives birth to a a fawn, mousse-like head that reaches one finger and gradually settles down to a more moderate level. A neat lacing decorates the surface throughout the entire drink.
The suppressed nose is treated with slightly bitter, salty licorice that dominates over other nuances. A careful sniffer can detect a whisper of fermented plum and a pinch of rye malt.
The taste is strong but also thin, displaying hefty licorice root and some rootstock of common polypody. The impression leans towards herbal cough syrup. A remote salty suggestion can be spotted on the taste receptors. Subdued overripe, even fermenting plum, a bit of date and a hint of rye dough follow just behind the main elements.
The body is surprisingly lame, can be placed at light-medium maximum. The beer ends with strongly salty, relatively bitter licorice root. Not really a candylike taste. A somewhat medicinal herbal nuance is pretty lofty in the aftertaste that, otherwise, keeps the tastebuds busy for a long time.
The mouthfeel is rather strong, very slightly edgy, significantly medicinal, overall though medium-thin as well as challenging.
